Name: Ann Crittenden

Hometown: Darien, Connecticut

Where are you in your Marine Corps career?
After 25 years on active duty, then almost 15 years in support of the Marine Corps through government and contractor positions, I am fully retired, but am still actively supporting, as the National President, the Women Marine Association (WMA). The WMA is the only nonprofit 501(3)(c) in support of only women Marines in the world. We have almost 3,000 members and are growing steadily. Our mission statement: Founded in 1960, the Women Marines Association is committed to preserving and sharing the proud heritage of women who have served in the United States Marine Corps — from World War I to the present day. We educate current and future generations about our enduring legacy and provide unwavering support to all women Marines through every stage of their life and service.

Why did you enlist in the 1775 Club?

What does rebuilding The Tun mean to you?
Rebuilding the Tun means that all Marines, regardless of gender, will have a home that is theirs.  It is so rich in history, tradition, and foundational messaging for the Marine Corps. The WMA is a part of history as we have been Marines since 1917 but fully recognized in 1943.
