For the second year, The Tun Legacy Foundation exhibited at Modern Day Marine, the largest military equipment, systems, services and technology expo exclusively organized for the Marines Corps. Co-hosted by the Marine Corps League and the Marine Corps Association, the event was held from April 29-May 1, 2025, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Foundation representatives attending Modern Day Marine included Pat Dailey, founder and president, and board members Paul Garvey, Ken Hopper and Matthew Swindle. Participation at Modern Day Marine enabled them to share news about The Tun® rebuild to an audience that included USMC leadership, Department of Defense active duty and reserve service members and their families, Marine Corps League and Marine Corps Association members, Defense Industry affiliated personnel, law enforcement, industry and consultant representatives, invited international guests, and fellow expo exhibitors.

Among the special guests visiting The Tun booth at the Modern Day Marine expo was Sergeant Major Carlos A. Ruiz, the 20th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.

U.S. Representative Jack Bergman (R-MI), Lieutenant General, USMC (Ret.) was the guest speaker at the Foundation’s Rebuild The Tun Reception held prior to Modern Day Marine at The Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C. The April 28 reception was an opportunity for the Foundation to detail plans and progress on The Tun project.

The Modern Day Marine activities also marked the launch of The Tun® 1775 Club, the Foundation’s grassroots effort to involve all Marines in the rebuild of the historic Tun. Several members enlisted in the club at the expo.
