LtCol Tom Williams, USMC (Ret.) is donating 50 percent of the profits from his first book, “Doorsteps of Hell,” to help fund the rebuilding of the historic Tun and to encourage others to get on board. In addition, he is offering readers a 10 percent discount on the purchase of the book.

“Doorsteps of Hell” is the first book in Williams’ Heart of a Marine Book Series. This powerful story is an honest, no holes barred account of Williams’ battles fought in Vietnam 1969–70. Most importantly, the narrative has been recalled from the diaries Tom kept every day as he fought on the battlefields – diaries which are still intact today.

“When I heard about the plans to rebuild the Tun, I was very excited. Being a Marine is what I am all about. During my 29-year service career, followed by a further 14 years as trainer and advisor in Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan (read career history here) – I can honestly say that my devotion to the Corps is thoroughly in my blood. I have lived life as a Marine, I have fought as a Marine, and now in my 81st year, I want to do all I can to give back to the Marines.

To this end I am delighted to be able to offer a profit share of my first book, “Doorsteps of Hell”, to the Foundation to help raise funds for the rebuild of the Tun, the historic birthplace of the Marines.

“Doorsteps of Hell” is so accurate in my account of serving in Vietnam from 1969 – 70, due to the diaries I kept daily on the battlefields, diaries I have to this day. These have been a great source of reference when writing this book.

One of the very interesting aspects of my book is the series of Lessons Learned that I have spread throughout the pages. Lessons, tips and hints that can only be gained through first hand combat and experiences in war and Marine Corps life.

The book also talks about my early years growing up and the time spent at North Georgia College – on my pathway to becoming a fully-fledged Marine.

I am so pleased to be able to share my story with other Marines and supporters of the Tun rebuild,” said LtCol Tom Williams.
