The Tun Legacy Foundation’s capital campaign to rebuild the historic Tun has already raised more than $9 million and resulted in significant successes, including securing the land on which The Tun® will be rebuilt, and completing the design and architectural drawings.

Key to those successes has been the involvement of Keystone Donors and Individual and Corporate Plank Owners, said Colonel Matt Swindle, USMCR (ret.), Vice President of The Tun Legacy Foundation, and head of the Foundation’s fundraising committee. “Our early Keystone Donors and Plank Owners were quick to embrace the vision and mission of the Foundation, recognizing the importance of rebuilding this historically significant site in Philadelphia, and foreseeing the immense charitable impact once The Tun® is open and the nonprofit Foundation donates all proceeds from operations to veteran and Masonic charities.”

Keystone Donors

To date, The Tun Legacy Foundation has secured four Keystone Donors, each making a significant gift of $1 million to $4 million, including the Pennsylvania Freemasons, the Timothy T. Day Foundation, and two anonymous donors. Together, they have contributed $7 million.

“When people come to The Tun®, what they will see is the names of the top supporters on the Keystone Wall of Honor,” Swindle said. In addition, they will see the Keystone Donors acknowledged through naming rights across various rooms and spaces, with opportunities ranging from $5 million for a Keystone donor, to $250,00 to name private dining spaces, with several opportunities in between.

Among the spaces that have already been named are the Pennsylvania Freemason Room and the John Adams Room. Tun Alley, The Tun® Museum, Peg Mullan’s Restaurant, and others are available to be named. A full list of naming opportunities, along with room renderings, can be found at the Contribute tab on the Foundation’s website at www.thetun.org or via this link.

Additional benefits for Keystone Donors include being associated with veteran and Masonic-supported scholarships and charitable initiatives, and networking at the Grand Opening and anniversary events.

Keystone Donor pledges can be one-time donations or tailorable to multi-year commitments of up to three to five years. For more information, contact Matt Swindle at mswindle@thetun.org, or Denise Hollywood at dhollywood@lynchpinnacle.com or 703-407-8449.

Individual and Corporate Plank Owners

In addition to Keystone Donors, the Foundation’s fundraising committee – composed of board members, advisory committee members, and fundraising partner Lynch Pinnacle Group – is seeking sizable donations from individuals and corporations. An individual donor who contributes over $10,000, or a corporate donor who donates over $25,000, will be considered the Tun’s “Plank Owners,” a term that references members of a crew who were part of a ship being built or commissioned.)

All Plank Owners will be recognized with a permanent inscription on the Plank Owner Memorial Tribute within The Tun®, and other benefits as outlined on the Foundation website.
