Thank you to everyone who joined the third episode of The Tun Through the Decades history series where we discussed how The Tun hit its stride and made a name for itself in America, including the roles of the innkeepers and the creation of the Governor’s Club and The Beefsteak Club.
The next installment in the series, focusing on the years 1770 through 1781, Episode 4, “The Tun’s Final Decade … 30 Steps Too Far!,” will be at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, October 28. The episode will explore the Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and Naval Committee, the return of the St. George Society, the tavern’s connection to the Continental Marines, and the events that ultimately led to the building’s demolition.
