32 oz. “Bottomless” Tankard Stein

There are steins, and then there is THIS stein! This 100% handmade in the USA 32 oz. Tankard mug is fashioned in the 1700s style with crimp seams, wired rim, and custom stamping. It is built using vintage tools and techniques from the 1700s and early 1800s. This shape has been authenticated to the 1700s via antiques found in Pennsylvania. The copper handle is also cut by hand and folded over twice, then formed individually over a 1700s hollow mandrel with a hammer by hand.

The base sheet is cut into a blank, measured, and cut on the circle cutter. The base is then burred, flattened, and hand-hammered over an anvil before fitting onto the body. The base is tacked on with about 200 hammer strokes before pressed down further with the vintage setting-down machine. Each of these steins take about 4 ½ hours of hand labor to complete!

The Tun™ Miniature Framed Brick

There is strong evidence that Tun Tavern was made of brick. It’s quite likely that’s the reason it stood for nearly 100 years. Tun Tavern will again be made of brick, but THIS time YOU can OWN one! We know how many bricks it will take to build it, so that is the number of bricks we will make available for donors to buy, and not ONE brick more! Your donation will get you a brick engraved with your organization’s logo and four lines of text that you supply, matted and framed by a professional art framing shop, and a certificate that tells the world that you (or whomever you honor by having their name laser-etched on the brick) will forever be known as a “Sons and Daughters of the Tun”! This is truly a limited offer. Each brick represents an actual brick used to build The Tun™.

The Tun™ Alley Brick Paver

When William Penn was planning his “City of Brotherly Love,” he wanted all Philadelphians to have free access to the Delaware River, and not be accused of trespassing on private property. To accomplish this, he mandated 11-ft wide “cartways” (alley) between the groups of commercial buildings that lined the banks of the Delaware. One of these “Cartways” ran along the side of a tavern, Tun Tavern, so the name “Tun Alley” was commonly used and became accepted, appearing on city maps from 1686 until about 1920! Tun Alley will be recreated along-side of The Tun™ and you can memorialize a Marine, a Unit, a spouse, or even a pet! This is a VERY limited offer! Only 600 bricks are available!
