The Tun® Alley Brick Paver

When William Penn was planning his “City of Brotherly Love,” he wanted all Philadelphians to have free access to the Delaware River, and not be accused of trespassing on private property. To accomplish this, he mandated 11-ft wide “cartways” (alley) between the groups of commercial buildings that lined the banks of the Delaware. One of these “Cartways” ran along the side of a tavern, the Tun, so the name “Tun Alley” was commonly used and became accepted, appearing on city maps from 1686 until about 1920! Tun Alley will be recreated along-side of The Tun® and you can memorialize a Marine, a Unit, a spouse, or even a pet!
